I’m Tiago Garcia D’Almeida, a sports medicine physician and co-founder of ACTIVA – Centre Sanitari. My professional career has developed in highly demanding sporting environments, both with teams such as RCD Espanyol and at top-level sporting events, where precision, responsiveness, and sound decision-making are essential. Throughout my career, I have worked with athletes from a wide range of backgrounds, from active individuals who want to train safely to high-performance athletes who need to recover from injury and return to competition with the greatest possible confidence. This experience has taught me that high-quality medical care involves more than simply identifying an injury. It requires assessing the athlete as a whole, understanding the demands of their sport, and making decisions tailored to their individual circumstances. My approach is based on a thorough medical assessment, an accurate diagnosis, and clear communication with every patient. I believe it is essential to explain what is happening, what options are available, and which course of action is most appropriate to support recovery, minimise risk, and enable a confident return to activity. At ACTIVA, I lead the sports medicine service through an integrated, multidisciplinary approach, working closely with physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, coaches, and other healthcare professionals. This coordination allows us to manage each case comprehensively, optimise recovery times, and support a gradual, safe return adapted to the specific demands of each sport. My goal is to provide sports medicine that is approachable, effective, and focused on both prevention and performance. An approach that helps each person understand their body, make informed decisions, and continue practising sport with health, safety, and confidence.
